Carerpreneurs

Carerpreneurs – redfeining your path

Gentle business support for carers, former carers & those rebuilding life around caring responsibilities

You are a carer, and you are a creator. You don’t have to choose between the two.

Building a business while managing caregiving responsibilities requires a different kind of strategy. It isn’t just about “hustle”—it’s about finding a rhythm that respects your time, your energy, and the unpredictable nature of your daily life.

Caring for someone can change everything — including your confidence, energy, finances, routine and ability to work in traditional ways.

Many carers have incredible skills, resilience, creativity and lived experience — but after years of caring, it can feel difficult to know where to begin.

That’s where our Carerpreneurs resources and support aims to help.

Whether you are:

  • considering a small business idea
  • looking for flexible ways to earn an income
  • rebuilding confidence after caring
  • exploring a purpose-led project
  • returning to work differently
  • or simply trying to work out your next step

A calmer, more realistic approach to business support

I understands that carers often need:

  • flexibility
  • encouragement without pressure
  • simple practical guidance
  • support that works around real life
  • realistic expectations around time and energy
  • clarity without overwhelm

There is no “one size fits all” approach here.

Support may include:

  • gentle business guidance
  • digital resources & workbooks
  • confidence-building support
  • signposting to useful organisations and services
  • practical help exploring ideas and next steps
  • wellbeing-aware business encouragement
  • optional 1:1 support

Created by someone who understands

The Carerpreneur project was created by Judy Illing, who has experience supporting carers, working in advocacy-style roles and helping people navigate change, confidence and self-employment in realistic and compassionate ways.

The aim is not to push people into hustle culture or unrealistic business pressure — but to help carers explore possibilities at their own pace.

The Foundation

My core resources are written specifically for those who are balancing the complexities of caregiving with the ambition to build something of their own:

  • The Carerpreneurs Handbook: Your essential guide to starting and sustaining a business from a caregiving role. It’s built on real experience, offering practical, flexible advice for unpredictable schedules.

  • From Caring to Creating: This explores the journey of shifting your identity from a full-time caregiver to an entrepreneur. It’s about more than just business; it’s about rediscovering your purpose alongside your responsibilities.

Building Your Toolkit

While the books above provide the blueprint, I’ve curated a range of additional resources to help you bridge the gap between “caring” and “creating.” These tools are designed to provide the clarity you need to move forward on your own terms:

  • Ideal for when you need to focus on specific business challenges, like finding your path or refining your strategy, without the overwhelm of a large-scale project.

  •  Explore the full range of resources designed to help you build a business that supports your life, not one that adds to your burden.

Why My Approach is Different

I understand the reality of 24/7 care because I’ve lived it. My resources are designed to be “pick-up-and-put-down” friendly. You don’t need a massive block of free time to get started; you just need a bit of clarity and the right tools to take the next small step.
